Everyone that is redeemed is a seed of Abraham and therefore has an entitlement to Abraham’s blessing.
Galasians 3:29:
And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
In Galasians 3:13-14:
[13] Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
[14] That THE BLESSING OF ABRAHAM might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Isaiah 51:1-2
[1] Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged.
[2] LOOK UNTO ABRAHAM your FATHER, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and BLESSED him, and INCREASED him.
Now Abraham in this scripture is being referred to as our father. Also, remember according to Galasians 3:29, anyone in Christ is a seed of Abraham. That means, everyone redeemed (born again) has a heritage in Abraham. He’s our father in faith. And the Word says:
A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children…(Proverbs 13:22)
So Abraham our Father (who was a good man) left an inheritance for us; an inheritance of Blessing.
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the Law that the blessing of Abraham should come upon us (Galasians 3:13-14 paraphrased).
Again the word says to look unto Abraham our father, because he is blessed (Isaiah 51:2). That means Abraham is God’s standard of blessing for the redeemed.
So What is the blessing of Abraham (or what is our heritage in Abraham)?
We realize from scripture that most often than not, God releases blessings by making proclamations!
For instance in Genesis, God blessed man after creating him.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
And God BLESSED them, and God SAID UNTO THEM, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. -- Genesis 1:27-28
Also see this account in Numbers 6:22-25:
[22] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[23] Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall BLESS the children of Israel, SAYING unto them,
[24] The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
[25] The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
[26] The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
In other words, God was saying, you will bless by making proclamations:
“ye shall bless…saying…”
So we realize in Genesis 12:2-3, God in blessing Abraham, said to him:
[2] And I will make of thee a GREAT NATION, and I will bless thee, and make thy NAME GREAT; and thou shalt be a blessing:
[3] And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
So from these statements, we try to identify some of the blessings as declared upon Abraham.
#1. The Blessing of Greatness
² A great name
God said to him, I will make your name great (Genesis 12:2);
In the name of Jesus, your name will be among the great names on the earth;
² A great Nation
Inside every redeemed child of God is a great Nation. We see this prophetic Word, concerning the end-time saint:
A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong Nation: I the LORD will hasten it in his time. --Isaiah 60:22
As God’s Apostle and Prophet Dr. David Oyedepo has often said: there will be men like Nations in these last days.
That is to say, inside you a believer is the potential of a Nation. Now we’re talking about what God declared concerning Abraham. And we have this account in scripture that:
even long before he (Abraham) ever became the Nation called Israel, his ability in warfare was stronger than that of five (5) nations combined (see Genesis 14:1-17).
We’re told that Abraham with his private army of only 318 men (i.e. servants born and trained in his house) took over the battle against four (4) kings/nations which five (5) kings/nations joined together had lost, and won it. That is 318 men challenged armies of several thousands of troops and made a mess of them.
That is an unusually great man. And that’s everyone’s destiny in Christ.
So note this: you will not end your journey small. You will be so great; even greater than nations.
E.g.
I saw recently how that a man of God in the US has more than Eighty (80) million followers on facebook. That is several times the population of some nations in West Africa and other parts of the world.
That is one man who’s influence is far bigger than a nation. That looks like the divine ordination for every redeemed child of God.
So everyone redeemed is ordained to be great. And you shall be great in the name of Jesus.
What’s next about Abraham’s Blessings?
#2. An Agent of Blessing on the earth
God said to him:
“…thou shalt be a blessing..” Genesis 12 vs 2
We were told in Genesis twelve (12) that when God called him to depart from his country to an appointed place, he did not only go with his immediate relatives, he went along with some needy souls.
Abraham was a shelter to the helpless!
Genesis 12:4-5:
[4] So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
[5] And ABRAM took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and THE SOULS that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.
He was a shelter to the helpless;
From scripture, we can estimate the probability of over 600 people living under his roof, and feeding from his account (Genesis 14:14). His army alone was made up of 318 trained servants (not relatives) born in his house. Now in those days, women did not go to battle; they stayed back at home and watched over the children. So that account of 318 servants is minus women and children. And usually women are often more than men in most gatherings -- then include children -- So we can estimate Abraham’s household at the time of between 600 and 1000 people.
Like Abraham you will not only be blessed, but you will be a channel/agent of blessing to others;
God went further to proclaim over him
“...in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed” (Genesis 12:3)
E.g.
Remember how he with his private army alone (an army of 318 men only) became a blessing to 5 nations, as they took up a battle that those 5 nations could not handle and won it -(Gen 14:1-17)
In the name of Jesus, Like Abraham, you shall be a blessing unto nations.
#3. The blessing of Preservation
God said to Abraham
“I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee” - Genesis 12 Vs 3
Zechariah 2:8
For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.
You like Abraham are the Apple of God’s eye. So whatever touches you touches God. So any thing that comes against you, it’s God that will react.
E. g. In Genesis 20 we see the account of How God reacted dangerously against a king known as Abimelech for touching what belonged to Abraham. God plagued Abimelech’s household. Abraham had to pray to God before the plague was lifted.
Now the word says, you are a seed of Abraham and an heir of the same promise. Therefore you’re entitled to this order of God’s preservation over your life.
You, all that belongs to you and all that concerns you will flow in this order of blessing from now. God’s hand of preservation comes upon you and all that concerns you from now in the name of Jesus.
#4. Supernatural Fruitfulness
“I..will multiply thee exceedingly” - Genesis 17 vs 2b
“...I will make thee EXCEEDING FRUITFUL” - vs 6 of Gen 17
You are ordained for exceeding fruitfulness. Fruitfulness in every department of your life--I.e in the works of your hand, family life, mentally.
You will be birthing new things as you’re advancing in years-- fruitfulness to your old age.
Psalm 92:12-15 says:
[12] The RIGHTEOUS shall FLOURISH like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
[13] Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.
[14] They shall STILL BRING FORTH FRUIT in OLD AGE; they shall BE FAT AND FLOURISHING;
[15] To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
The righteous is referring to the redeemed. We’re the righteousness of God who are in Christ Jesus (2 Cor 5:21). And God has ordained that you’ll be fruitful all-through life even to your old age. He has ordained that you live an ever-flourishing/fruitful life. Imagine that Abraham at past 75 years was leading a private army to war--fruitful (exceedingly fruitful). And he was still seeing visions of a great future at that age--that is when many in the world have already retired (I.e. they have stopped producing anything).
In the name of Jesus You will never lose relevance--no matter your age!
This blessing also includes the essential part of the fruit of the womb (I.e child bearing). Abraham began having children after 75years. So good-news is that you’re not late sir/madam. Actually the promise child came when Abraham and Sarah were about 100 and 90years respectively. So it’s not too late for you in case you’re covenantly married. God said “…I am the Lord I change not…” (Malachi 3:6).
For instance, we have heard and read diverse testimonies of married couples who have waited on the Lord for children some 5years, some 10years some 20years and even beyond that. The most staggering was that of a couple (wife past 60 and husband past 70) who delivered twins (I.e. after so many years of marriage). That’s the Sarah and Abraham of our days. These testimonies include medically impossible cases (such as the one just mentioned: husband past 70, wife past 60--past menopause).
There’s been cases like pregnancy coming out of fibroid, infertility, and cases of damaged organs like ovaries, Fallopian tubes, etc yet resulting in supernatural childbirth.
One of my children for instance, came out of a case of ovarian cyst (the report said a “huge cyst” was found in the womb). Yet that could not stop the miracle child that came forth after nine (9) months (the cyst actually disappeared).
God’s word stands forever. When the Word says you shall be fruitful--then it’s settled--cyst or no cyst, Fallopian tube or no Fallopian tube, infertility or not, menopause or papapause (does not matter). So no negative medical verdict can annul the verdict passed by God over Abraham and his seed.
You shall be exceedingly fruitful in the name of Jesus.
#5. Generational Honor
…thou shalt be a FATHER Of MANY NATIONS…for a FATHER OF MANY NATIONS have I made thee…verses 4 & 5 of Genesis 17
Fatherhood in itself is an honor; now to be a father of many nations is honor beyond measure - honor extraordinaire.
And this honor continues to generations:
And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee IN THEIR GENERATIONS for an EVERLASTING covenant
Think of men like Billy Graham, Reinhard Bonke and TL Osborn among others. What do their names represent? Father of nations of course. These are men that God used to bring millions across many nations to the Lord. They are spiritual fathers in the hearts of many in several nations spanning several continents of this world.
And that’s a picture of the redeemed. Your impact will span many nations. Many in diverse nations will look up to you as a Father.
#6. The Blessing of Royalty
God said to Abraham in verse 6 of Genesis 17:
“...KINGS shall come out of thee.”
That‘s why we’re told in scripture (in Revelations 5:10) that every one that is saved is redeemed as a King and priest to reign on the earth.
So You belong to royal blood.
Actually we are called a Royal priesthood.
1Pet 2:9:
But ye are a chosen generation, a ROYAL PRIESTHOOD, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
You will not live an ordinary life anymore;
Your royal status is coming alive from today!
#7. The Blessing of Dominion
After Abraham gave his only son Isaac on the altar of Sacrifice (in a figure), God swore this blessing over him:
Genesis 22:16-17:
[16] And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
[17] That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and THY SEED SHALL POSSESS THE GATE OF HIS ENEMIES;
Remember when one is saved, he’s the seed of Abraham (Galasians 3:29). So as Abraham’s seed we’re ordained to possess the gates of our enemies.
That is unparalleled dominion;
E.g. Sampson (a seed of Abraham) could uproot the city gate of his enemies and carry it on his shoulders to the top of a hill - Judges 16:2-3. Bible says while the enemy was in waiting to kill him in the morning, he took them by surprise at midnight. That is, he possessed the gate of his enemy literally.
According to scripture, we’re ordained to rule in the midst of our enemies;
Psalm 110:1-2:
The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
[2] The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.
That is dominion!
From now on, you’ll be advancing while your enemy is watching!
Many reading this now, you’ll be doing business at the gate of your enemies (that is to say, the proximity to your enemy notwithstanding, your exploits will be unquestionable).
God said: He will set a table before you in the presence of your enemies (Psalm 23:5). So your days of running away from enemies is over.
Dominion is the the heritage of every seed of Abraham. And that becomes your story from now on in Jesus precious name. Amen!
LETS PRAY:
If you would like to be saved, please say this prayer:
Jesus Save my soul; and wash my sins with your precious blood.
Thank you Jesus for saving me.
Amen.
Congratulations! if you said that prayer. The Word of God says you are now a new creature and old things are passed away. All things are become new (2 Corinthians 5:17). In other-words, God will never call your past life (sins/faults) to remembrance. They are totally forgotten. Check this:
I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. (Isaiah 43:25)
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more (Hebrews 8:12 )
Please be assured that we shall be praying for you.
