God's Wisdom for Healthy Living

Copyrights: Mawudema@gmail.com

Proverbs 18:14:
The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?

Infirmity refers to sickness. But God has ordained that your human spirit can sustain you in sickness. God has built immunity agaist sickness and disease into your spiritman. Therefore, the key to living a sickness-free life or overcoming attacks of sickness and diseases is to develop a robust spirit.

But How Do You Do That?

#1. By Feeding Fat On The Word
--------------------------------------------------

God’s Word is spirit food. King David lived a super healthy life to a good old age (1 Chronicles 29:26-28). He said in Psalm 119:19-100:

[97]  MEM. O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.
[98]  Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.
[99]  I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.
[100]  I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts.

God’s Word was his delight, so he dwelt on the Word of God all through the day.  That’s one secret of his strength.

It says in Colosians 3:16:

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

In Job 23:12 it is written:

Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

To this personality, God’s Word was better than food. This is because God’s Word is spirit food. It is food for your spirit. So feed fat on the word to build a robust spirit. The word is powerful (Hebrews 4:12, Ecclesiastes 8:4); so you’re building power into your spirit. The word is imortal; so you’re building imortality into your spirit. Thus, you’re building immunity against sickness and diseases into your spirit as you feed on the Word.

#2. By Praying in the Holy Ghost
---------------------------------------------------
Jude 1:20
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

So when you pray in the spirit, you’re building up your spirit. Therefore, Learn to pray in the holy Ghost regularly and grow in it by praying for increasingly longer periods.

Finally, on this segment, in Isaiah 28:11 it is written:

[11] For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
[12]  To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and This Is The Refreshing:

So whenever you pray in tongues (spirit), your human spirit is refreshed.

#3. Walking in Love
--------------------------------
This is talking about love for God and for humanity (people).

Luke 10:27
And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

Deuteronomy 6:4-6
[4] Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
[5]  And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
[6]  And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

What happens when you love God and by extention people too?

1John 4:16
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

When you love God, you abide in God and God in you.  That is, you’re cocoon in God and God abides in your spirt.  God’s very person abiding in your spirit makes your spirit robust.

You love God as you love the advancement of His affairs on the earth.

#4. A Lifestyle of Joyfulness, Thanksgiving and Praise
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your human spirit also becomes robust through a lifestyle of gratitude, praise and worship to God.

Nehemiah 8:10
Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

Neither be sorrowful because the joy of the Lord is your strength. In otherwords, your joy in God demonstrated through your thankgiving and praise is the secret of your strength. It strengthens your spirit and then your physical body as a result. In Philipians 4:4, it says:

Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

The reason being that you’re full of God’s presence when you’r joyful.

Psalm 16:11
Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

So each time your heart is full of gratitute, rejoicing in praise to the Lord, His presence saturates your spirit. Thus, a continous lifestyle of joy and rejoicing builds up your human spirit, making it rubust to withstand and subdue the storms of life such as sickness and disease that may come up against your body.

#5. The Secret of Rest
---------------------------------
Isaiah 30:15
In returning and rest ye shall be saved. In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength..

That is to say, if you must be saved or rescued in times of trouble such as sickness and disease, then learn this secret of rest. And this rest is two dimensional

1st Physical Rest
A tired, worn out body will result in a weary spirit.  Therefore, in order for the spirit to function properly, the body must be given adequate rest.

2nd Resting in God and on His promises

In Isaiah 30:7 God said:

For the Egyptians shall help in vain, and to no purpose: therefore have I cried concerning this, Their strength is to sit still.

The secret of our strength is to sit still waiting on God and resting on His promises. So take your rest in God. When you do, then God will move in your behalf and subdue whatever may be contrary to your wellbeing.  As it is written:

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. - Psalm 46:10

Every assault on your health is over from today!!

Meanwhile, a relationship with God through  His Son is the starting point. As it is written:
I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6)
So Jesus is the only way to God the Father. Therefore, If you want Jesus in your life, Please say this simple prayer:
I believe that Jesus is the Son of God and He shed His precious blood for my sins. Today, I confess Him as Lord and Saviour.  Thank you Lord Jesus for saving me!
Amen.
Congratulations! if you said that prayer. The Word of God says you are now a new creature and old things are passed away. All things are become new (2 Corinthians 5:17). In other-words, God will never call your past life (sins/faults) to remembrance. They are totally forgiven and forgotten. Check this:

I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. (Isaiah 43:25)

For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more (Hebrews 8:12)

Worth More than Gold

 Isaiah 13:12:

I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.

God is able make you as a person more precious than the most precious gold. That means your value in life is determined by your relationship with God. The closer your walk with God the greater your value. As you draw closer to God the more you increase in value/worth. This truth is confirmed in Malachi 3:17

And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels..

When God has proven your faithfulness in your walk with Him, then He makes you into one of His precious jewels. In otherwords, you become a priceless asset to Him and as a result a priceless asset on the earth. Thus, the real value of a person in life is their value with God.

Furthermore, when the Lord says that He will make you more precious than the finest God, that means you will also have material wealth (gold) in abundance and yet all of that will not measure up to your actual value with Him. In Job 22:21-25, we find these awesome words from the Lord as a confirmation:

[21]  Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.

[22]  Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.

[23]  If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles.

[24]  Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.

[25]  Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver.

It says to get acquainted with God (get to know Him deeper) through His word. Delight in obeying His laws which includes walking in the fear of God, then you’ll lay up gold as dust (i.e. wealth in excess). Gold will be to you like dust.

So what else is the essence of the message?

That do not worry about money (gold). You are potentially of more value than all the gold in this world. Your walk with God is a goldmine. So get bussy with God. Draw closer to Him daily in prayer, word study and a lifestyle of obedience to His instructions. Then as you do so, you’ll increase in value and also in substance.

In conclusion, no one diminishes in life walking with God. You only appreciate in value. The good news is that you shall become a person of great worth. Congratulations!

Meanwhile, it all begins with establishing a relationship with God by receiving His son Jesus Christ into your life as Lord and Saviour. Scripture says:

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God (John 1:12)

Check this:

For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more (Hebrews 8:12)

THE NATURE OF A DIVINE CALLING

“Look unto Abraham your father…for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.” - Isaiah 51:2

Fundamentally, no calling is a collective calling. Every calling by God is an individual calling. God does not give callings or assignments to His people colletively but individually. God speaking in our anchor text above said very clairly concerning father Abraham: for I called him aloneHe was not called together with others though others such as his immediate family members became partakers of that heavenly mandate. So every calling in scripture was an individual calling. This is why no one will successfully fulfill his/her calling or God-given mandate by looking for a consensus from men.

In connection to his calling, Paul the Apostle makes this profound statement:

-Galations 1:15-16

(15)  But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,

(16)  To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

Paul was trying to say that after I received my calling from God, immediately, I did not look for a consensus from mortal men. I did not seek for anyone’s approval. It’s crucial to note that every authentic calling or mandate from God follows this partern. Men will usually not approve of whon God has called. That was the story of our Lord Jesus Christ:

Act 2:22

Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:

He was a man called and approved of God yet disapproved of men. All the rulling authorities and popular groups did not approve of him nor his ministry (from the high priest to the Pharisees and the Sadducees).  Yet His mandate was direct from heaven.  It is very obvious from some of the utterances of Christ when He taught the people that He did not seek the approval of any man. For instance in many instances he called these authroties and their followers hypocrites:

Mathew 23:13

But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. (See also Matthew 23:14,15,23,25,27&29, Matthew 6:2,15&16, Matthew 22:18,  Mark 7:6, Luke 11:44)

And remember we’re mandated to “…look unto Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith…” (Hebrews 12:2, paraphrased). So if our master and Lord did not seek the approval of mortal men, who are we to seek men’s approval when God has given us a mandate to run with?  Let us examine a few other characteristics of a genuine divine calling which will help put us on the right path and guard against derailment.

Key Characteristics of a Heavenly Mandate (I.e A Calling from God)

#1. It is Fire in your bones

Jeremiah 20:9

But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones

Every heavenly calling is a burning fire in the bones of the called.  When your calling is genuinely from God, you’re always on fire with the mandate. It’s an unquenchable fire. It does not diminish with time. Neither does circumstances of life cause the fire to go out. The fire is ever freshly burning many years after the mandate was received. Apostle Paul wrote in 2Corinthians 6:4-10:

(4)  But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,

(5)  In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;

(6)  By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned,

(7)  By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,

(8)  By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true;

(9)  As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed;

(10)  As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

Such is every calling that is truly from God. It remains ever strong despite the ups and downs of life.  Again, Apostle Paul made the following statement several years after he received his calling:

Acts 26:22

Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:

The fire of the calling remained ever burning such that he could “…continue unto this day…” doing what he was called to do. May that be your own experience too.

#2. It gives you unusual joy

Every divine mandate fuels your joy. It’s a source of extreme joy; one that is described in the new testament as joy unspeakable and full of glory (1Peter 1:8).  The mandate itself gives you this unusual joy that cannot be explained--not the rewards that come from running with the mandate.  You may not be enjoying any immediate rewards such as material blessings in the interim, but your joy looks like you are. The rewards will eventually come anyway, as some of us have experienced, and it comes in phases and also in dimensions. The goodnews is that this supernatural joy, gives you the endurance to  never give up untill you begin to see/taste the rewards of your labour.

Psalm 34:8

O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

May this order of joy become your portion as you continue to trust God to see you through.

#3. It gives you Rest

Your divine assigment will give you rest, even in the midst of storms. This is because your divine assignment/calling has God as your anchor; so, you remain unshakable despite the storms of life.

Ephesians 2:20

And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

So every heavenly mandate or calling has Jesus Christ (God the Son) Himself as the chief corner stone or anchor. Thus your rest is guaranteed in and out of season (remember: when Jesus is in the boat, you will only laugh at the storms).

Thus, ultimately, your calling will give you rest. You’re always at peace within as you pursue that assigment. However, when you try to navigate away from the path that God has chosen for you, in doing other things, you lose your peace.

Psalm 85:8

I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints

May you enjoy unperturbed peace and rest allthrough your journey. Amen!

#4. Your Calling will feed you

Every divine mandate/calling enjoys divine supplies/provision. In otherwords, God who called you will always provide for you.  We find in scripture many examples of how God provided for his called servants. Let us enumerate a few:

The Prophet Elijah:

We saw how God provided for him even in a season of famine (1Kings 17:8-15)

We saw how God sent an angel to feed him in an obscure place (1Kings 19:5-8)

Elisha the Prophet:

God through a woman and her husband provided free accomodation and food for him (2Kings 4:8-11)

Jesus Christ & the 12 Disciples:

God through some women supplied material blessings for them (Luke 8:1-3)

They enjoyed supernatrual provisions (Matthew 14:15-21, Mark 8:1-9)

Apostle Paul:

He was well provided for and lived in his own rented house where he preached the gospel (Act 28:30-31)

The word says that by the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established (See Deuteronomy 19:15, Matthew 18:16, 1Corinthians 13:1). Now we have more than three examples from scripture, which is enough proof that your daily provision is inside your calling. God who called you will never leave you stranded; He will always provide for your needs as you abide faithfully, doing what He called you to do.

May you enjoy these four-dimensional blessings/benefits and more as you abide faithfully in your calling. Amen!

Meanwhile, the foundation for receiving a heavenly mandate/calling is relationship with the Master Jesus Christ by becoming a member of His sheepfold. Jesus said in John 10:27:

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

To be able to hear the voice of the Master, pointing you onto the pathway of your calling, you must accept Him as your Lord and personal Saviour. Therefore, If you want to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, Please say this simple prayer:

YOU CAN ESCAPE UNTIMELY DEATH AND MISFORTUNES

Hosea 13:14

I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.

Psalm 49:15

But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.

Psalm 49:8

(For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)

The above scriptures reveals God’s intentions against untimely death in the life of his people.

But why are so many people around the world today becoming victims of the plague of untimely death? Here is Gods answer:

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: -- Hosea 4:6

Lack of knowledge of God’s provision for our safety and preservation in this wicked world makes one vulnerable to the evil plans of the devil whose agenda is to steal, kill and to destroy:

John 10:10 :

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Therefore, disasters such as the recent plane crush of the Indian airline where multitudes perished are simply the work of the enemy (also known as the thief). It is not God’s doing. On the contrary, God’s plan is that we have life and have it in abundance. While my heart goes out to the victims and families of the victims of the plane crush, my heart goes out even more to the rest of humanity who are still breathing, who can have the opportunity to know this truth I’m sharing and be delivered from such a misfortune. If one person could survive that plane crush, then you could be that survivor in any disaster that may strike.

1Corinthians 15:55-57

(55) O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

(56)  The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

(57)  But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

As we can see clearly, God’s plan for us is victory over death and misfortune when we surrender our lives to Christ.

Psalm 56:13

For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?

Gods heart desire is that we walk before Him in the land of the living (not in the land of the dead).

Psalm 116:8

For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.

Good news is that God will deliver your soul from death and your eyes from tears.  In other-words not only will God ensure that you enjoy long life, He will also see to it that you never have to shed any tears over your loved ones because of untimely death. This is the will of God for His people. Now check the following scripture:

Job 5:20

In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.

That means under God’s covenant provision for the protection and preservation of his children, there is no event that can take place in this world to cause the untimely death of the child of God.  Not famine, not even war (I.e. worst case scenario). No outbreak of war, no matter how terrible can take your life. Believe God’s word for it. Talk less of other agents of death like accidents, sickness, natural disasters among others.

Psalm 34:20

He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.

God will keep all your bones intact until when your days here are complete and He calls you home (See Psalm 91:16). No war, natural disaster, accident or sickness will break your bones. Youre unbreakable, unkillableand indestructible. Thats who you are in Christ. Believe it, receive it and walk in it.

Meanwhile, the beginning of our journey into God’s protection and preservation on the earth is having a relationship with his Son  Jesus Christ. Scripture says:

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God (John 1:12)
