A Word for The Day

Psalm 37:4:

Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Who is the Lord?

God the father (Jehovah) is the Lord of hosts - (1Sam 1:3/11, 1Sam 4:4)

Jesus (the Son) is severally declared as Lord in the new testament (Act 15:26, Act 20:21, Rom 1:17, Rom 5:11, and many more)

And the Word also says the Lord is that Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty… (2Cor 3:17). So also, the Holy Spirit is Lord.

Altogether, we can interpret the scripture Psalm 37:4 to mean, delight thyself in God (because He is a 3-in-one Personality; Father, Son and the Holy Spirit). Wherever you see, the Lord in scripture, you can comfortably replace it with God.

So delight yourself in God, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.

What does it mean to delight yourself in someone?

Dictionary definition means to please someone greatly.

So to delight yourself in God is to please Him greatly. And when you delight in someone, you take pleasure in them. So take special pleasure in God. Take pleasure in doing the things that gives Him pleasure, such as singing His praise and giving Him worship. Take your rest in Him. Enjoy being in His presence. Enjoy talking to Him at every opportunity. Enjoy getting to know Him through His word.  Delight in finding out what He wants you to do for Him specifically. And as you do these things, the Word has assured that He will give you the desires of your heart. No need to fret at all. Just relax and watch Him turn your desires to testimony in your hand.   Jesus said it this way,

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Mat 6:33

Meanwhile, to have your delight in someone means that you have a relationship with that person.  So our delight in God in seeking His heart’s interest, delighting in him personally and in the things that concerns His kingdom begins with a relationship with Him through His Son Jesus the first born.

If you’re not certain that you have that relationship established, you can say this prayer:

LETS PRAY:

If you would like to be saved, please say this prayer:

I believe that Jesus died for my sins and I confess Him as Lord and Saviour.  Thank you Lord.

Amen.

Congratulations! if you said that prayer. The Word of God says you are now a new creature and old things are passed away. All things are become new (2 Corinthians 5:17). In other-words, God will never call your past life (sins/faults) to remembrance. They are totally forgotten. Check this:

I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. (Isaiah 43:25)

For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more (Hebrews 8:12 )
